So, I was inspired to go read Wikipedia’s entry on objectivism after listening to this podcast. And, after reading it, it seems it’s even worse than I remember from previous forays. Or maybe it’s just Rand’s shrill denunciations of anything that might seem similar, like anarchism or libertarianism.
It seems an interesting philosophy for a group of people maybe starting a new world somewhere. Without pre-existing conditions of oppression it might actually work, but looking around me I don’t see too many people that aren’t coerced in one way or another into their social and economic relationships. I don’t see the freedom they talk about in our society.
